FAQs

Q: Do you work with people who have had surgery or serious injuries?

Yes. Post-surgery rehabilitation is one of the main reasons people come to James. He has worked with clients recovering from spinal surgery, ACL reconstruction, knee replacements, disc decompressions, meniscal repairs and hip operations. Every programme is built around your surgical history, your consultant's guidance and where you are in your recovery. James holds a Sports Therapy degree and has had his own ACL reconstruction — he understands this road personally.

Q: What is the Foundation Programme?

The Foundation Programme is James's own training method, developed over 9 years of sports therapy practice. Rather than jumping straight into exercise, it starts by going back to basics — identifying movement imbalances, correcting poor patterns built up over time, and building strength from the ground up. Every session covers all 7 fundamental movement patterns: squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, rotate and gait. This means no muscle group is overloaded and no imbalance is reinforced. It works for complete beginners, post-surgical clients and people returning to training after years away.

Q: How is this different from seeing a physiotherapist?

A physiotherapist typically treats the site of pain and discharges you with a set of exercises. James works with you beyond that point — providing the structured, progressive programme that happens after physio, with full support between sessions. Most of his clients come to him after physio hasn't fully resolved things, or when they've been given exercises they don't know how to progress. James works alongside your physiotherapist or consultant where relevant, never against them.

Q: Where are you based and where do sessions take place?

James trains clients at The Mighty 100, Box Studios, Sunrise Parkway, Linford Wood, Milton Keynes, MK14 6LS. It is a private personal training studio — not a commercial gym. Sessions are 1-to-1 only, giving you complete privacy and James's full attention throughout. Online programme clients follow their home routine wherever suits them, with weekly form checks via WhatsApp.

Q: How quickly will I notice a difference?

Most clients notice something after the first session — usually a sense of relief, easier movement or muscles switching on that haven't been active for a long time. The bigger changes in daily life — walking upstairs without thinking about it, sleeping better, moving without bracing for pain — tend to show up between weeks 4 and 6 with consistency. The full 12-week Foundation Programme is designed to get you to a place where the results sustain themselves.

Q: How do I get started?

Book a 20-minute consultation call for £10 — via Zoom or phone, whichever suits you. James will ask about your history, your goals and what your day-to-day life looks like. By the end of the call he'll tell you honestly whether he can help, what programme would suit your situation, and what the next step looks like. Your £10 is fully redeemable against your first month. There's no obligation and no hard sell.
